The Cost of Commercial Vehicle Registration in Strathmore
For commercial vehicles solely operating in Alberta (and not travelling outside) will likely pay between $82-$3461/year for commercial vehicle registration in Strathmore. If you cross provincial and/or international borders in a vehicle that weighs over 4500kg, your vehicle registration must then be prorated – which is detailed below.
Prorated Commercial Vehicle Registration in Strathmore
Prorated commercial vehicle registration is essentially known as the process of calculating registration fees and taxes throughout multiple jurisdictions. Goldkey Registry offers prorated commercial vehicle registrations to businesses in Strathmore.
In order to be named eligible for prorated registration, your commercial vehicles must travel regularly outside of the province. The percentage of the total distance travelled in each jurisdiction is how the prorated commercial vehicle registration fees are calculated. Alberta Transportation’s Prorate Services processes all applications for prorated registrations and thusly provides the business with a “Fee Notice.”
Goldkey Registry can also collect the amounts specified on the Fee Notices and can then issue all necessary plates, prorate registration, cab card, and validations tabs. The cab card is necessary to indicate the provinces and/or states in which travel has not been approved/fees have been paid.

Permanent Commercial Fleet Inventory in the “Strathmore Permanent Fleet Program”
Any commercial vehicles that are registered in the permanent fleet program may receive a fleet tab, which will then replace the year tab on your commercial license plate. The tab will be labeled in black with the words “FLEET PR.” You are not to replace this tab and month tabs are not issued for “permanent” fleet vehicles.
You are not required to surrender vehicles if they already have commercial plates. You need only place the permanent fleet tab over the year tab and remove the monthly sticker.
You will be issued a registration paper that declares the expiry date as “Continuous.” Keep this! It will not be reissued annually. Permanent commercial fleet registration certificates are only issued when:
- If the use of the vehicle changes
- If the colour of the vehicle changes
- If the weight of the vehicle changes
- If the vehicle’s first registration was under the permanent commercial fleet program
